Youth Program Supervisor
Location: Eugene, Oregon
Monthly Salary:$3,117 - $4,501 - Full Time Salaried Position with Benefits

Position Purpose

Responsible for the management and supervision of all youth recreation programs, classes, activities and events. Responsible for planning, promoting, implementing, and supervising all youth programming and outreach services, including but not limited to: Early Childhood Education, After School Adventure Program, Summer Camps, and Gymnastics.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Direct, manage, and participate in the development, review, implementation and evaluation of all youth recreation programming. Program areas include but are not limited to: Playschool, Preschool, Prekindergarten, after school enrichment (ASAP program), summer camps, Gymnastics, and all youth classes.
  • Manages all personnel matters according to established policies and procedures including: hiring, training, supervision, and evaluations of staff and volunteers.
  • Develops regular class schedules and programming. Oversees input of all youth recreation programs in the District computerized registration system.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, health, personnel, industry and other regulations, by maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
  • Assists in the preparation of district brochures and flyers.
  • Responds to staff and public questions, concerns, and requests as needed.
  • Provides support to staff in planning, promoting, and evaluating special event activities. Coordinate with other departments to ensure setup and cleanup of events.
  • Ensures compliance with USDA snack program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to establish excellent working relations and communication with supervisors, co-workers, and general public.
  • Must possess practical common sense skills while maintaining a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to adapt to a constantly changing and fast paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in developing program goals, activities, and services to meet the needs of patrons.
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication.
  • Proficient principles of supervision and personnel practices to provide leadership to a diverse work force.
  • Experience inprogram analysis and record keeping.
  • Applicable knowledge in the areas of marketing practices and trends.
  • Working knowledge of computerized recreation software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation or a related field.
  • Two years leadership and supervisory experience in a public agency. Operational experience with computer registration systems is required.

ASAP Instructor   

Location: Eugene, Oregon                                                    

 Wage: $11.25 – 14.00 an hour

Part Time Position.  15-25 hours weekly.

 

Position Purpose

Assist the ASAP lead coordinator in development of after school or summer camp activities.  Supervise kindergarten through fifth grade youth in a recreational setting.   Organize and supervise activities for the ASAP and/or Adventure Day Camp Program, a comprehensive recreation program for children in grades kindergarten through fifth.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Plan daily activities for participants including arts and crafts projects as well as outdoor activities. Implement these plans from set-up through clean-up, utilizing the staff of recreation aides and volunteers. Assist with field trips, parties and special events.    
  2. Maintain a high level of safety and discipline within the group, both with the children and the staff.
  3. Establish a pleasant and enthusiastic rapport with children, staff and parents.
  4. Supervise children in both an indoor and outdoor setting.
  5. Participate in district safety protocol for all events and programs.
  6. Enforce all park district rules and regulations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to establish excellent working relations and communication with supervisors, subordinates, and general public. 
  • Must possess practical common sense skills while maintaining a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to adapt to a constantly changing and fast paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles to pick up children from local schools.
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication.  Ability to read, write, and speak the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment.  This work requires continuous supervision of school aged children.  Program focuses on development of both cognitive and social skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High School graduate or GED preferred.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Oregon driver’s license required
