The Arthritis Exercise Program uses gentle activities to help people with arthritis increase joint flexibility and range of motion, maintain muscle strength and decrease pain. River Road Park and Recreation District offer several different options for entry into our fitness classes. We offer some classes as registered classes and some classes as punch card classes, with several opportunities for drop-in participation as well. Punch cards allow you a specific number of visits to certain fitness classes. See below for a list of classes. Silver & Fit Membership entitles you to take any of our punch card classes for free.

 

All punch card sales are final. No refunds will be issued for unused punches. Drop in class fee can only be applied toward the cost of a punch card within 24 hours of attending the class is was purchased for.

Variable-Intensity Interval Training

Age 21+. Start the morning off right in this Variable-Intensity Interval Training class, You will increase your strength and endurance; improve your flexibility and mobility while turning your body into a fat burning machine. Attend regularly and watch your fitness level improve.  We will perform initial Fitness Tests during the first session of week 1, a reassessment week 4, and final assessment test the first session of the final summer session week.  Sample meal plan included for those who are interested.  Studies show that when you perform cardio intervals as opposed to straight aerobics, you burn calories at a higher rate for as much as 36 hours after your workout depending upon your individual metabolism.  Adding the resistance to your workout will help you build that lean muscle mass that will help fire up your metabolism all the time.  Instructor: NASM Fitness Specialist, Ann Prokenpek.

Fat Blaster Intervals/DVRT

Age 21+. Perfect for all fitness levels, Dynamic Variable
Resistance Training (DVRT) prepares any athlete as well as the everyday person to handle whatever challenge comes their way. This class is fantastic for improving functional movement and reducing risk of injury as well as improving sports performance for the athlete. The River Road Parks Tennis Program is open to players of all ages and experience levels, from novice to advance. Activities taught include fundamentals, drills, rules, positioning, strategy, and singles / doubles games. All lessons are weather permitting. Additional lessons are available by arrangement. Pickleball

Restorative Yoga

This yoga practice begins with gentle, restorative movement designed to promote relaxation and unwind tension in the body. Looking for one-on-one personal training? River Road Park and Recreation District is pleased to announce that it now offers personal training. Our ACSM Certified Personal Trainers are committed to helping people feel and move better. Each workout takes approximately forty-five (45) minutes to complete and focuses on controlled strength, balance, and movements that increase flexibility, mobility, and agility. As one of our Certified Personal Trainers states, “There’s nothing wrong with being strong.” To set up your initial individualize personal training session, please contact the District office, 541-688-4052. Existing clients may contact the Pool office, 541-461-7777, directly. Cost: $30.00 per session

 

Personal Exercise Orientation

Invest up to an hour and a half with our certified Personal Trainer and realize the difference a stronger, healthier body can make. Whether you desire to lose fat, gain strength and/or increase your cardio-respiratory endurance, our experienced trainer will design a personalized, basic exercise regime for you and show you how to effectively use the Fitness Center equipment.
